10月13日（周六）下午3点将举行开展仪式。届时，将有小食及红酒供应。来自拉市海的本土舞者，会带来“麒麟舞”表演。

The openning ceremony will be held at 3pm on Saturday (13th of October) afternnon. Snacks and wine will be served. Local dancers from Lashihai will bring the traditional “Qilin Dancing” performance.

【画展概要】

SHOW STATEMENT

“东巴神路图”是一幅给纳西族东巴做葬礼时用的画卷。

The Dongba Road to Heaven funeral scroll is a long painting that was (and is) used at certain Naxi Dongba funerals.

做葬礼的时候，主持葬礼的东巴会把死去东巴的灵魂从地狱带到人间再从人间送到天堂。

During the funeral ritual, the Dongba priest guides the soul of the deceased through the levels of Hell, and towards Earth and Heaven.

此展览将展示一个装置艺术，即一幅未完成的“东巴神路图”。

This exhibition shows an installation over which an unfinished Dongba Road to Heaven scroll hovers.

7年前（2011年），当我还是艺术专业学生的时候，初次接触并开始学习东巴文化。

I first began studying Dongba culture as an art student in 2011, seven years ago.

从那以后，在多个丽江东巴老师的指导下，我已完成了2幅“东巴神路图”、7幅唐卡风格的东巴画、超过12本画有观察性绘画和注释的笔记、大量研究仪式的东巴手绘卡片及东巴木板画。

Since then, I have completed two Road to Heaven scrolls, seven Thangka-Style Dongba paintings, at least a dozen books of notes and observational drawings, and studies of ritual cards and wooden board paintings, under the guidance of multiple Lijiang Dongba teachers.

2014年，为了完成东巴老师的作业，我绘制了我的第一幅“东巴神路图”。这幅画已经交还给老师，现存于塔城乡，正准备用于下一次的仪式。

I painted my first Road to Heaven scroll in 2014 as an assignment for a Dongba teacher- it has now been returned to him and it lives in Tacheng village, ready for use in the next ritual.

在2015年-2017年间，作为自己的研究成果，我完成了第二幅“东巴神路图”。在2016年，此幅卷轴画在美国马里兰州进行展出。这次展出也是亚洲文化协会视觉艺术奖赞助的蒙古项目中的一部分。在2018年，此幅作品，也在美国纽约及德国柏林进行展出。

I painted my second scroll in 2015-2017, as a study for myself. In 2016, that scroll was presented in an exhibition in Maryland, USA, and was also featured as part of a project in Mongolia, funded with a Visual Arts grant by the Asian Cultural Council. In 2018, the same scroll painting, when finished, was shown in exhibitions in Berlin, Germany and in New York City.

此次即将在丽江市图书馆进行展出的卷轴（正在筹备中）是我的第三幅卷轴版本。

This new scroll, which is currently in-progress (the one I propose to show in this exhibition at Lijiang Library), is my third edition.

为了鼓励文化产出的互动，我将邀请不同年龄层的参观者进行智力方面的相互交流与意见互换，以便评估作品，并在作品创作的过程中收到反馈。

To encourage the interactive facets of cultural production, I encourage intellectual exchange as I invite visitors of all ages to evaluate the work and give feedback while it is being created.

在画展开幕仪式上，将会有一个互动问答环节。在画展展出期间，也将会有一个意见箱，用以收集观展公众的反馈意见。

There will be a presentation/ “performance lecture” and Q&A during the opening event, as well as a box to collect feedback throughout the duration of the show.

在闭展的仪式上，我们可以讨论由画展引起普通公众关注的一些问题。

During the closing event we can discuss the issues which have been brought to attention by the general public.

画展将给本地社群一个机会，去重新审视传统的纳西东巴文化，也将评估这样的一个传统文化在今日的国际性当代语境下，将如何被“再创作”和“再展现”。

This gives the local community a moment to reflect on traditional Naxi Dongba culture, while also assessing how it is recreated and represented in international contemporary conversations today.

【艺术家简介】

Artist Profile: 

王艺澄 (青蛙)是来自纽约的多学科型艺术家。她自2011年开始学习东巴艺术并不间断在丽江工作室进行艺术研究。她关于东巴的作品署名都用了她的纳西名字——五知蜜。

Dava Frog Wing (Qingwa) is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City.She works seasonally at Lijiang Studio and has been studying Dongba since 2011. Her Dongba-related artworks are signed and stamped with her Naxi name, “WuZhimi.”

她相信时效性的绘画过程是有价值的学习模式，是一种理解社会情况和吸收真正生活感受的方式，比一幅已完成绘画的最终结果更有价值。

She believes that the time-sensitive process of drawing is a valuable mode of learning, a way to understand social situations and absorb real-life experiences, and can be equally or more valuable than the end result of a completed drawing.

目前，王艺澄正与丽江拉市海吉祥村合作，撰写一本关于麒麟舞的插图说明书籍。她希望这本书在完成之后，可以给丽江本地的孩子们带来乐趣，也可以将现在中国一部分活着的纳西族文化分享给全世界更多的人。

Currently Frog is collaborating with Jixiang Village (in Lashihai) to produce an illustrated book about the Qilin Dance. She hopes that this book, when finished, will entertain local Lijiang children as well as share a living sample of Chinese culture with friends from around the world.
