2013年11月10日，甘肃省兰州市榆中县龙泉乡水泉湾村，贫困户蔺明一家在田里铺设地膜，种植小麦。在帮扶工作队的帮助下，蔺明采用地膜种植小麦、玉米和土豆，初步改善了山区干旱种植育苗死亡率高、产量低的问题，收入逐年明显提高。夫妻俩依靠务农，先后供两个孩子考入大学并获得了心仪的工作。2019年，家里还建起了3间新房，安装上了自来水，过上了与城里人一样的生活。
